RECESS BEFORE LUNCH: Samantha O’Neil, a representative from Healthy Howard, presented a report that indicated that elementary schools that convert to a “Recess Before Lunch” (RBL) format have experienced fewer behavioral disruptions in class due to recess activity, fewer trips to the nurse, and less food waste in the cafeteria. Meeting was called to order by President, John Hannay at 7:38 PM. Quorum was met and the purpose of PTA was read by delegates.

Cradlerock PTA in cooperation with Steven's Forest PTA is hosting Adrenaline Magician Brian Rudo for a night of magic. The "laugh and gasp" show features the Mouth Chain, 100 ft rope challenge, and fire eating.

Neil Gaiman has won the 2009 Newbery Medal for The Graveyard Book (HarperCollins). Beth Krommes has won the 2009 Randolph Caldecott Medal for The House in the Night (Houghton Mifflin), written by Susan Marie Swanson. Due to predicted inclement weather, the science fair has been postponed. The fair will now occur on Thursday, January 29th. Judging will occur between 3:00 and 5:00 pm. The fair will remain open until 7:30 pm.
Students entered in the fair should drop off their display boards, a copy of their written report and any other fair materials to their science teacher at the beginning of the day on Thursday. Continue

· Coat Drive – Cradlerock School participated in this year’s county-wide coat drive effort. We collected four bags of used coats and new hats and gloves of various sizes. I just wanted to share a really great experience we had with Murray Educational Services on Halloween. (You know the Spooky Science Halloween flier that came out?)
We went to the Spooky Science Halloween party instead of trick or treating this year. It was a BLAST! and my kindergartener LOVED it!
